Day 76 & 77

Yesterday, we had our breakfast delivered to our room at 9 am. Greg had a marmalade croissant and I had cornflakes. At 10:30 we took the metro to the colosseum stop and stood in line to buy tickets to go inside.

After the colosseum, we stopped and had a light lunch at a small cafe. I ordered a cheese and grilled veggie focaccia sandwich, and Greg ordered a focaccia pizza. After we ate, we walked to the Pantheon which was about an hour walk. After the Pantheon, we walked to the Trevi Fountain, where we stopped for gelato and pictures.

Then we walked to the Fontana del Tritone, then walked to the Hard Rock Cafe to find it. Once we found it, we sat outside for a little while, then decided to walk to the Spanish Steps. While taking pictures on the steps we were ambushed by an italian guy who tied bracelets on our wrists, and of course we had to pay for them. We sat by the fountain at the bottom of the steps for about 15 minutes, and then walked back to the Hard Rock Cafe where we had dinner. I ordered a HUGE platter of grilled chicken nachos with a drink. The nachos were SOO GOOD! Greg ordered twisted chicken mac n cheese. After we ate and looked around in the shop, we walked back to the metro to take us back to our stop.

We were back in pretty early, but we walked ALL DAY and were exhausted so it felt nice to just relax.

This morning we slept in and had breakfast delivered at 10:30. I ordered the cornflakes again but with yogurt as my "drink" so I could mix the cornflakes with that instead of the whole fat milk they kept giving me to pour in my cornflakes... NO THANKS. After we ate, I was still tired so we went back to bed for about an hour, and then I got up and got ready.

Today we went to the main shopping street, Via Cola di Rienzo, which is very close to our hotel, only like a 15 minute walk. We walked that whole street, Greg stopped and had gelato, and then we turned around and headed back to our hotel. We didn't really have a lunch... I had an apple and the rest of my trail mix from home, and Greg had the gelato. Once we were back in the hotel, we decided we just wanted to relax for about an hour and a half since it was so hot outside.

We left the hotel again around 4:45 pm, and took the metro to this other stop to walk around some. We found a cute outdoor restaurant to eat dinner around 6. We ordered parma ham and fresh buffalo mozzarella cheese as an appetizer, and then I ordered a cheese and mushroom pizza and Greg ordered a ravioli dish stuffed with mushroom cream sauce.

When we were done eating, we were waiting for them to collect our money and check, and this guy came rushing over apologizing that it took so long and gave us free limoncello shots.

After we ate, we walked around some more, and then took the metro back to our stop. From there we walked to our hotel to drop off some things, and then walked back to the shopping street to the Portofino Gelatteria Cafe where we had our dessert :) pictures of our dinner and dessert are on facebook. It was DELICIOUS! I'm so glad I don't live in Italy bc I would be a gelato addict and 500 lbs.

We got back to our hotel room about 15 minutes ago (9 pm) and are in for the night. We check out at 11 am tomorrow, so we have breakfast coming at 10 am. I ordered a chocolate croissant with nutella this time :) and some hot tea.

I guess once we check out, we will make our way to the airport, even though our flight doesn't leave until 5:30 pm.

We've had a GREAT time in Rome and I can't wait for Greg to meet the whole family back in Sweden!

Don't forget to check our pictures on Facebook!
